The Causes and Effects of Global Warming

Global warming is one of the biggest and serious issues facing us right now.  It is frightening to think of what it can do to animals and our surroundings.  What is even frightening is its effect on humans.  There are many arguments regarding global warming.  It has been politically debated and covered by the media.  Movies are even made and released for the public to see.  The fact of the matter is global warming is real and it is happening all over the world. It can be measured though, but that doesn’t guarantee us protection because its impacts are unpredictable.

Global warming is caused by a lot of things. It is basically split into two, the natural and the man-made cause.  Natural causes are made by nature such as methane emission from animals and wetlands.  The increase in human population increases the demand of livestock.  Thus, increases livestock production and the levels of methane released also rises.  Man-made cause, on the other hand, is most damaging.  The biggest is pollution like carbon dioxide emissions.  These are released from fossil fuel burning power plants and from burning gasoline for transportation.  As all of these happen, there will always be a significant increase in the amount of global warming.

There are some physical effects of global warming.  The increase of global temperature causes the melting of the polar icecaps and rising of sea levels.  This may lead to flooding in most coastal areas, people will be left homeless.  Communities will be destroyed.  Coastal areas and even people living there will soon be washed away and If not prevented, with the increase in population, there won't be any land left for us to live on.  As its effects get worse so will the size of its impact on the world’s economy.  I mean, let's face it the global economy is not in its excellent shape as it is.

I hope that upon seeing the effects and knowing its causes will make us all responsible for our actions.  We are all living and breathing in one planet.  So when it comes to global warming, we are all accountable for everything that's been happening and responsible for making changes that will help us control it.
